On some browsers it is possible to keep the browser open when the only tab is closed; this extension simulates that behavior. It does this by making sure there are at least two tabs at all time; if the number of tabs drops to one, a new tab is created (either a normal or a pinned tab depending on the condition).
Known issue(s)
If a new window is created by detaching a tab, a new tab cannot be created immediately in the newly created window, so there will be only one tab in it and if the tab is closed the window will close.
